Then I got introduced to the Rasterbator ...

Nothing much here. I got introduced to a piece of software with which to create posters of a photo. Called the Rasterbator - head on here
for a gallery of similar images, created using the technique.
This photo was taken by my wife while pregnant with our first child.
She looked rather radiant, I thought. Either way, I really liked her smile and thought the photo a likely case for a bit of experimentation with Rasterbator.
Output was to my Epson Stylus Office BX610FW 4 A4 sheets.
Another success then for the rasterbating technique.
I suppose I could have striven for a more finished look in PhotoShop. Rotated and Centered, with great borders. I like that the side window shows a bit of the garden too. So I decided against borders.

Minimalist Portrait.

Fergie - I did promise

I did promise once, after presenting a photo of the model - Noami Campbell, to present Fergie; member of that really successful and cutting edge band - The Black Eyed Peas. Here then is the result of firstly,
  • Mutilating the magazine
  • Messing with the colours of the layers
  • And cutting and resizing so that it fits within a black border and
  • Trying to keep faithful to size and scale
er ... the picture to my mind has imperfections - even as a fantastic highly contrived picture. I would have loved to have 'my subject's' fuller frame - showing both sets of hands in the picture, but the border cuts these in places - aw! Her dress is really subtle and the lace is the best I have ever seen anywhere on a person.
A final imperfection, I of course introduced some display text. Just an ID tag.
I think that if you click on the photo to blow it up, say in another tab, you would notice the textured look of the pixels - this can be interpreted as the realism of a canvas-mounted photo, which comes for free working off old newspapers and magazines.

Anyway, - Fergie, ladies and gentlemen. Warts and all.

I think the photo was first taken while the
diva presented her fragrance.

Facebook Man

He is hot. Kind of trending now. Continuing my series of 'popping' the hot and trendy. You have heard about 'papping' or getting 'papped', I am doing popping - get me? Latest mash-up. Photo was culled from a free newspaper during the same period that the bankers - Goldman Sachs valued his company at 50 Billion USD.

Photographer was not explicitly acknowledged in the newspaper. I did my bits in my image applications. First a scan and then some work changing the background and getting rid of the text.

My idea was to set my subject against a rough background. Imagine I was completely obsessed with 'form'. I conceived a background of banding rectangles that were together beige, black and brown and knocked the colour out of the resulting scan.

King Mark is then pictured against his own Rothkoesque background. The 'degraded' scan lent to the gritty appearance of my final composition to suggest a hint of class.

My art history book quotes Greenberg:

'What is the source of value or quality in art? The answer appears not to be: not skill, training, or anything else to do with execution or performance, but
on conception alone'

The suggestion is that it is an artist's imaginary sense, expressed through the work which is of value and relevance, rather than the subject matter itself. Said another way, it is the meaning in the medium, which constitutes real content.

I might sell a reprint of this derivative work, with no branding applied. Please write to info@popartrazzi.com

The Great White Outdoors

You got to like a bit of outdoors.
I love this photo a little, since Side view shots of myself, hardly work. I took the photo myself - holding the camera at an angle. I even managed a smile. It was taken on a small compact HP Camera - the PhotoSmart R817. 15:21 according to the EXIF settings. A year ago.
In snowed-out South London. The shot makes me look quite tall and I am a little short man - a bit full of myself - but then you knew that already.
Smile.

Messing about in PhotoShop Still.

I kinda like it and will talk about it some more.
Here is the Photo. It might have connotations of
some cultural jamming, but it really isn't intended, the
jamming, that is.
The photo itself was sourced from a thrashed
newspaper - and makes me wonder about the possibilities
of stockists Vs 'recycled' images - but that is another blogpost. For now - enjoy !

Inlaws Do London

That's it - the work of a serious amature. Your trusty hobbyist.
This product is promoted on a few other blogs.
I am selling a large print of this photo.
Contact me at info@popartrazzi.com or click on the Paypal graphic hear?(sic.)
Now when you hear about those pesky immigrants wanting to 'own' London, you got something you could point at hanging from the rusty nail on your wall and say 'There, proof for you, see"?
I have it on good authority that the subjects in the photo are proper Anglophiles.

The photo received attention in Photoshop where treatment included application of the program's native filters where I lost
the colour information.

Immigi, is the caption I have chosen.
